VanWagenen Pics

Jory put some recent family pictures on Facebook and since their blog is years out of date, I posted them here.

This is 'The Princess.' This was taken on Brooklyn's 3rd birthday and the celebrations must have worn her out.

Mason and Tanner both play football and love it. Mason excitedly posted on Facebook last Saturday that his team won the game and that he 'pretty much pancaked everyone on the other team.'

Mason is in 7th grade and Tanner is in 6th grade

Reed's aunt, Idella Ransom, died October 10th, 2011 at the age of 87. The funeral and burial were in Preston, Idaho on October 14th, a beautiful, warm fall day. The services were nice and fitting. Idella was a neat lady--very loving, giving, friendly, enjoyable, optimistic and funny. It was good to see and visit with so many family members.

Ben's Wedding

The night before the wedding most of the bride's family stayed at Crystal Inn. Many out of town family members of the groom had accommodations at the Spring Hill Suites. Candace called and said Brooklyn wanted to see Grandma so we went to the hotel to visit. As we arrived, Marilyn was checking in. Robin, Heidi and Jennifer had already checked in with their families. Ron, Jodie and Ben came over and then Holly and BJ. We kept adding more chairs to the circle. There were probably 35 of us. Many of the kids went swimming. Ben was very cool, calm, and collected on the eve of his marriage.

Ben and Ally were scheduled for a 9:15 a.m. ceremony in the Logan Temple on October 15th. Gary Allen was the sealer.

Ally was a beautiful bride. She was in our YSA ward at USU so we knew her before Ben did! Ally is a 2 year convert to the church and is the only one in her family to join. That made it a little difficult for her and for her parents and relatives as well. I thought everything turned out great. It was a very enjoyable day but I wish I could have visited with everyone!

First snow of season :(

The deer are back and sporting winter gray-brown coats. Seven does were in the field beneath the house but you can probably see only four of them in this picture. A few weeks back there was a deer herd in Albrecht's apple orchard in Millville. A couple of them were bucks with good-sized antlers.

Our high beam headlights went out on the car when we were 3000 miles out of warranty. We were quoted $2267.00 for new ones! I'd do without them before I'd pay that much. The dealer made a phone call and got them covered for us. Hallaleujah!

Colds are making the rounds in this household. Unfortunately it is my turn.

We've had pumpkin-chocolate chip cookies, homemade cinnamon rolls, a peach dessert, turkey, buttercup squash and other fall foods with apple dumplings coming up this weekend.

Out and About...

This is dumb and isn't in correct form but it tells about a ride we had Oct. 3rd:

Let me report on activities today:

We got to go 4-wheeling;

we just needed to get away!

To the high country we had to go

because it won't be very long

before the mountains will have snow.

Our stressed minds we had to renew,

so we paused on the mountain top

to take in the gorgeous view.

Yellow, orange, red and gold...

We couldn't believe the colors,

they were so bright and bold!

We kept an eye on the sky

'cause sprinkles were forecast

and we wanted to stay dry.

So we didn't go to Randolph to eat

even though it was our desire

and thought it would be neat.

As we bounced along the dusty trail

we saw some feathered friends...

wild turkeys, bluebirds and quail.

Horses, dogs and sheep we spied.

If I said deer, elk or moose,

I really would have lied.

Today was really enjoyable and fun.

But it won't be very long now

'til we won't have warmth and sun.

Now we've arrived back at Jill's,

these old bones hurt and ache

so we'll shower and take some pills.

Watch the news then head to bed,

4-wheeling is hard on us,

"Must be getting old," I said.
