New Baby

Hi, my name is Abigayle but you can just call me 'Abby.' I entered this world in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 28, 2010. I weighed 7 pounds even and I'm just over 19 inches long. My head has a little red fuzz on it and my eyes are blue. My parents are Ty and Jodi. Grandma and Grandpa Conlin brought my siblings to the hospital today so I could meet them for the first time. My oldest brother's name is Owen and he is 4. Next comes Miles, who is 2. My sister is one and her name is Olivia. They all have summer birthdays so soon they will be 5, 3 and 2. I'll try to be extra good because Mommy will really have her hands full. My parents' friends have been coming to welcome me too. I guess that is okay because they keep bringing presents. Everyone seems pretty happy to see me. They say I am so little and cute. I am really good natured so far but every time I open my eyes the cameras start flashing. It is enough to make me want to just keep my eyes closed and show them my frowny face. Everyone wants to take a turn holding me. Here are some of the pictures that Grandma took. I'm about 20 hours old.

Mom, Owen and me...
I can tell Owen adores me already.

Grandma posted pictures without their faces because she says I am better looking than they are. They do have other pictures that show who they are.

Miles needed a little help holding me.
I like my pacifier but it is so big!

Here is my sister, Olivia, giving me a gentle kiss

Grandma wanted to take a picture of me with my family...my first family portrait. But Dad was on the phone, the nurse came in to check on my mom, and then we got more visitors. Oh well, it will have to wait. I'll get out of the hospital tomorrow and have my first ride to my home in Oklahoma City. I think I'm going to like it here!

4/19/95 - Alfred P. Murrah Federal Bldg in OKC

This is part of the original chainlink fence that was put around the bombed building to keep the area secure. 200 feet were kept to give people the opportunity to leave remembrances.

This is a part of the original building that survived. Upon the wall are pieces of salvaged granite from the Murrah Building lobby inscribed with the names of more than 600 who survived the terrorist attack.

Three views of the reflecting pool:

This is called the 'Survivor Tree.' It witnessed and withstood the violence that took place at this location. The message reads: The spirit of this city and this nation will not be defeated; our deeply rooted faith sustains us.

At each end of the reflecting pool are 'gates' that mark the formal entrances to the memorial. They are marked with the time just before and just after the attack...9:01 and 9:03. The pool marks what was once N.W. Fifth Street.

Two views of the Field of Empty Chairs:

Each of these 168 chairs represent a life lost in the bombing. There are 19 smaller chairs to symbolize the children who died. There are nine rows signifying the nine floors of the building. Each row shows how many were killed on that floor. The base of the chairs are illuminated at night. The field's perimeter matches the footprint of the former Murrah Building. It is lined by a granite path--granite that was salvaged from the Murrah Plaza.

Family History Blogs

I have been updating one of Reed's family history blogs with pictures and more histories. (www.myransomfamily.blogspot.com) I have neglected the other family history blogs lately. I did make one new post at www.mymilliganfamily.blogspot.com. It is a list of the locations and directions to the graves of our Milligan/Hancey relatives buried within Cache Valley. I thought it was appropriate for the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend.

Interment- Kaysville Cemetery

I have a lot of fond memories of Aunt Leola. She was a very special aunt to me. I had many good times staying at her home. It was nice to see everyone even though it was under such circumstances. I love the old Kaysville Tabernacle with its stained glass windows. It is the meetinghouse where Grandma and Grandpa Prigmore attended church and where they had their funerals as well. I remember going to sacrament meeting there with cousin Kathy to hear Uncle Gene give a high council talk.

Activities

We have had three days of nice warm temperatures!

On Saturday we mowed and edged the lawn. Someone dropped by to see our house. She came back a second time with her husband. In the evening we were invited to a cook-out at Julie and Glen's home. The food was excellent! Reed's home teaching partner, Don, was also there. Since the two of them visit Julie and Glen, I think they all decided to count the barbeque as a visit.

Candace, Jory and family went to Bear Lake on Friday to stay with Kristen and Ozzie and kids at their nice place in Garden City. Candace had said they had to leave about 10 a.m. on Sunday so Kristen could make it to church. She said they would stop and see us about 11. We decided to fix a nice roast beef dinner and all the trimmings. We kept waiting and waiting and they didn't come. We called and left messages on both cell phones and they didn't return our calls. (both phones had dead batteries and they had forgotten the charger) The table was set and everything was ready. We didn't know what to do. We figured their plans must have changed. About 12:20 we called Jill and told her we didn't want the food going to waste so she could bring her family to Sunday dinner. As we were finishing up the VanWagenens arrived. So we ended up with 14 instead of 8. There was still some roast, a few rolls and gravy left but we had to hurry and cook more potatoes and corn and re-supply the relish tray. We had plenty of zuchinni bread and chocolate/marshmallow brownies. After eating we watched the videos Jory shot while on vacation in the St. George area/Zions/Snow Canyon etc. Don't try to shoplift at JC Penneys at the SouthTowne Mall because Jory will catch you! He has been working part-time in the security department. He would like a different job, and one that is full-time. We all decided that he should get a job for Delta so we could get a better deal on airline tickets. Jory will be celebrating his birthday next Saturday, the 22nd. Kaden and Brandon left for a while for Kaden's baptismal interview. He passed!

Curly locks on Mason; he usually sports a shaved head.

On Monday while Reed was applying fertilizer and pre-emergent to the lawn, I planted the begonias which Reed had started in the house. The plants were nice and healthy looking. Each year they have gorgeous blooms. HJ would be proud! Later in the evening we planted petunias around the flowering pear trees in the parking strip. Now it better rain as has been forecast.

After school I took Kaden for an ATV ride up Providence Canyon to the rock quarry and waterfall. It is legal to ride 4-wheelers on city streets in Providence and Millville. Jill said her visiting teachers come in a rhino.

Natalie turns 11 tomorrow but her birthday was celebrated tonight due to scheduling conflicts. The Schvaneveldts invited us to go to Texas Roadhouse with them to eat. Here are a couple of pictures of Natalie taken at the restaurant:

Following dinner we took Natalie to Sam's Club for her to pick out a birthday cake. She didn't want buttercream frosting so that was a limiting factor. The cake was frosted with white non-dairy whipped topping and had pink, lavendar and yellow (pastel) decorations. So why did the lady at the bakery use dark green icing to write 'Happy Birthday Natalie!' on it? The lady warned us that her hand shakes so the writing might not be really neat. I felt like asking for a discount when I saw the finished product. Oh well, it will taste the same.

Springtime in Northern Utah

I think spring has finally arrived. Most of our trees are out in blossom. We don't know how much fruit we will get as the temperature dropped down to 21 degrees when the fruit tree blossoms were budding. We're ready to plant some annual flowers. The tomatoes will soon outgrow their walls of water. The corn is up (although a little spotty). The grass is looking really good. There have been some high winds that have blown up so much dust that when it rained, it rained mud. I can't stand dirty windows so I've had to clean them a few times already this season. We've had a lot of precipitation (snow and rain) during April and May. The following are just a few pictures I snapped showing the changeable spring weather of a Cache Valley spring.
