Next to me are the Felters and across from them are the Coles. All of us were Challenge Course Hosts and we became good friends. We did a lot of things together...attended the challenge course meetings, shared the same frustrations with people and policies at camp, we were all assigned to work on the cabin refinishing project, and of course we spent lots of time (and money) going out to eat. The Felters and Coles both lived in the Missionary RV Park.
Suzanne and Gary Felter are both my age. They live in St. George. They were two of the Gospel Doctrine teachers. They're really characters and kept us laughing. We shared a lot of good times. Her hat has frogs glued all over it...she HATES frogs. His hat says something like, "He is not a knot-head, he just knows his knots." It has a carabiner and some rope glued on it.
Reed's hat says, "You're tops!, Good worker, Loves to fish, Loves to travel." Notice the fish off to the side. My hat says, "Challenge Course Specialist & Chocolate Lover." Three miniature candy bars were glued to the hat.
This is Brother Wright passing around rolls. His hat has Hershey Hugs all over it because he hugs everyone all the time. In case anyone is wondering, if a guy is called "Elder" then he is a missionary, but all other males who serve in any capacity at the camp but are not missionaries, the proper term is "Brother." All of the females are called "Sister" and so one can't distinguish between the missionaries and other workers. The paid church employees are generally called by their first names--Benny, Leon, Cassie and Emily.
Elder and Sister Carter were sitting across the table from us. They also have five daughters. He is a heavy equipment (Caterpillar) operator. His hat says, "Cat Carter" and has some toy equipment on it. Sister Carter worked in the office at the maintenance building. She enjoyed welding too. That is why her hat says "Jack of all trades." Jack was crossed out and Jill was inserted. The Carters are from Provo and they have spent 18 months straight at camp.
These two pictures are of Elder and Sister South during their part on the program. They are good singers/performers. They live on the Providence Bench. Jill and Brandon's building lot is right below the South's home. Besides us and the Souths, there was a third couple from Cache Valley serving at the camp...Elder and Sister Hawkes of Richmond.
There was a skit by the Heber Valley Camp Young Women Presidency. We really loved and appreciated these women. They work hard and are awesome. They look different without their camp shirts.
This hilarious act was billed as the "Jensen Sisters." I presume that is their maiden name. And yes, they are really sisters. They were so funny; we laughed so hard. These two dressed-up sisters are two of the gabbiest people at camp. We know them as Sister Terry and Sister Fryer. They talk so much their husbands rarely get a word in edge-wise. Elder and Sister Terry are in Security and Elder and Sister Fryer are in Construction. The Fryers celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary at camp this year. This was the second year at camp for both couples.
Elder Cefalo, master of ceremonies. His hat says, "Happy trails to you until we meet again." He is a very hard worker. He and is wife are retired school teachers and are from Brigham City. They were in our second dessert group so we spent a little time with them. She is pictured below in her hat which says, "I love to go a-wandering, along the mountain track..." Sister Cefalo was the team leader for Hiking and Trails.
