Antelope Island

Can you believe we live in Utah and had never been to Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake? We decided to go on a little drive-about to visit the island. After crossing the causeway our first stop was a beach overlook. I snapped the following picture, after which my camera battery died. I was out of business. Disappointing! We saw only two antelope, but several large bison herds. The information in the brochure was interesting and the views were pretty. Mother Nature painted the landscape and water with a palette of every color, shade and hue. We didn't take advantage of the visitor's centers, tours, beach, or trails, but the drive was nice. It offered an entirely different perspective of the Davis County cities across the water with the Wasatch Mountains as a backdrop.


In other news, Andrew had a birthday on Sunday the 8th. Miles turned three on Tuesday the 10th, along with Courtney having her 15th birthday on that day. Courtney passed her test and got a driver's permit. Woo-hoo! Watch out! Grandpa passed his test the same day and got a CDL permit. Bryan is at the police academy in Sandy from Monday through Thursday each week until the end of the year. Squash, cucumbers and corn are on in earnest. Tomatoes and blackberries are just starting to ripen. The evenings cool down nicely and this morning's low was 47 degrees. We've lost an hour and ten minutes of daylight since summer began. That gives more time to read. Three of my latest reads are: 'Spoken From the Heart' by Laura Bush, 'The Walk' by Richard Paul Evans and 'Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt.'
