Each day the blocks for the Christmas Countdown and the Schvaneveldt's Family Cruise Countdown are changed to reflect how many days are left.





"How Firm A Foundation" We picked out our colors, counter tops, cupboards etc. We tried to choose something different than we've had before. Since we had ledgestone last time we chose a cobblestone. Last time we had almond colored garage and entry doors, this time they are dark brown. Because we've had oak and knotty alder cabinets, we decided on walnut. Stucco instead of siding, granite instead of formica, oiled bronze instead of brushed nickel etc. It is so hard to pick colors from little one square inch swatches. We hope we like how they turn out. Eventually we'll probably get used to them if they are not too ugly. If not, we'll have to stick a "For Sale" sign in the yard. I am definitely not a decorator and really have no sense of fashion or design. Sometimes we wish we were all settled in the home in Fairview, Idaho that we liked.









We have been walking (hiking) straight up to the foothills above us. The other day we went to the deer fence. Here are a few pictures I took up there:

Looking North- The little mountain peak in the center of the picture is Crow Mountain. Our new home is a little south and east of it...maybe 11 or 12 miles straight northward from the Providence Highlands. I'm going to get our GPS unit out and check out some elevations, longitude, latitude etc.

How about a winter picnic up on the mountain side by the deer fence?

We saw a couple of bald eagles perched in a tree west of Paradise. I was having major camera issues and the sun was on the viewfinder so I didn't know what the picture would capture. These are horrible pictures, but believe me, the birds looked 'regal.'
