Wow! We fell in love with this place. We want to go back. We checked out available properties. We contacted a woman who had fully furnished units by the day, week, month or longer. We'd probably be interested in a month. Although July and August are great, she suggested September as it is still pretty nice but the crowds have gone. That would be a really fun adventure.
Some of these pictures were taken by Reed and some by me. They are unedited and not sequential. Since we often take pictures of the same thing, some duplicates appear. Pictures from Reed's camera are much nicer than mine but consume more space and take a long time to download due to the high megapixels.
While in the realty office we noticed in a brochure that there is an LDS branch in Sitka. We didn't come across it in our wanderings around town but saw other churches.
The birds really liked Baranof
It seems kind of crazy, but Sitka is in a drought. This little lake is supposedly only a portion of what it is in a normal year. That is so unlike Cache Valley this year. Hyrum Dam is still totally full and water is going over the spillway.
Sitka reminds me of the beauty of Interlaken, Switzerland, Milford Sound in New Zealand and the Jackson/Teton area wrapped into one. It is breathtakingly gorgeous!
Here is our ship out in the harbor. This is one place we had to be tendered in.

I'm ready for a cruise now, especially to somewhere cool and green. I've had enough of this completely yellow and burnt, hot summer we are having.
